rangers dallas stars mika zibanejad

The Rangers need to make a run, and it starts today in Dallas against the white-hot Jake Oettinger and the Stars. The Stars are surprisingly good to start the season, mostly on the back of Oettinger, but they have some good young talent to complement veterans like Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn. They aren’t as deep as the Rangers so there are matchups to exploit, especially on the blue line. But Dallas can score and will score.

Vitali Kravtsov is back, again, and hopefully he can stay healthy this time. The Blueshirts are still without Filip Chytil, which is a gut punch to their center scoring depth, but he’s trending in the right direction. The real concern is the top six and powerplay just simply aren’t finishing. When you don’t finish, things seem to get worse before they get better. It’s a shooting slump, but one that does need to end soon.
