Rangers sign Jimmy Vesey

Another expected move to finish up the preseason, with the Rangers signing Jimmy Vesey to a one year contract.

Vesey was brought in on a PTO and has outplayed a number of players in camp to earn the contract. The dollar amount hasn’t been disclosed, which is silly and NHL teams should know that this stuff is public now, but it’s expected to be near the league minimum.

The Blueshirts have 23 players right now, I believe, to break camp. That’s not ideal for banking cap space, and that may change relatively soon. Perhaps they are waiting for Hartford to make cuts before sending more players down. It is expected that Dryden Hunt is not going to be a full time member of the Rangers this year.
