Kakko gets crack at top line in first Rangers preseason game

Kaapo Kakko will be on the top line tonight for the Rangers preseason opener against the Islanders.

Naturally these lines are going to change, and they already did following Mollie’s tweet, with Zac Jones and Libor Hajek swapping spots. Kakko getting the first crack at the top line may not have been expected, but we knew he would be playing with them at some point this preseason.

Vitali Kravtsov will be with Filip Chytil tonight as a duo to watch. Jones and Schneider is another duo to watch.

One thing I am noticing: Brennan Othmann on the fourth line like this likely means he needs to force the Rangers’ hand, instead of being penciled in for a 3LW role.
