Patrik Nemeth will not be bought out in the first buyout window. The Rangers did not place him on unconditional waivers for by the noon deadline today, thus they will not buy out Nemeth before the first window closes.
With this, the Rangers will need to trigger the second buyout window via arbitration should they still need to buy out Nemeth. Only Tim Gettinger and Austin Rueschhoff are arbitration eligible, so one of them will need to elect arbitration for the second window to open for the Rangers. The player does not need to actually go to arbitration for the window to open.
Update: Nemeth may not be able to be bought out in the second window.
So I'm actually not sure if Nemeth is eligible to be bought out in a 2nd buyout window
Unless it was changed in the new CBA, a 2nd window buyout player must have an AAV that is equal or greater to league average salary, which is $4m-ish this year. (Nemeth's AAV is only $2.5m).
