Julien Gauthier has requested a trade

Also per Arthur Staple, who dropped bombs in yesterday’s article at The Athletic, Julien Gauthier has requested a trade.

The trade request makes sense, as Gauthier was kicked to the metaphorical curb after the trade deadline last year. He was one of the players the Rangers looked to upgrade from in the lineup.

Gauthier was a solid play driver and showed flashes of combining that speed and strength, but his inability to put the puck in the net took away from his play driving abilities. There were many assists left on the table for guys like Filip Chytil and Alexis Lafreniere because Gauthier’s hands are lacking.

Gauthier doesn’t have too much trade value, but could be a decent sweetener for a team.
