The Rangers have acquired defenseman Justin Braun from the Flyers, per Jeff Marek. Braun, 35, is in the last year of his deal that pays him $1.8 million this season.
Braun is a no offense, all defense right depth defenseman. He provides the Rangers some insurance on Braden Schneider, who has been exceptional, heading into the playoffs. Worth noting that Braun is putting up these solid defensive numbers despite being with the defensive tire fire Flyers all year.
The Flyers got a 2023 3rd round pick, which is relatively low cost, low reward for Drury and the Rangers. Braun plays both sides, so this could also be a Nemeth replacement, and not Schneider insurance.
