Per Jeff Marek on 32 Thoughts, cited by Shayna Goldman, the Rangers are not just in on Jakoc Chychrun, they have an offer on the table that includes Vitali Kravtsov.

Chychrun is the kind of player that you send assets for, since he is low cost on the salary cap and won’t be a rental. I’m still not entirely sold on the Rangers needing him, since left defense isn’t really a huge need at the moment. The assets used to require him could also be used to acquire a center, a more pressing need.

That said, Chychrun is still Chychrun. It’s a good move, assuming the cost isn’t extravagant, even if it’s not a move I would have made.

Also, the Rangers have at least kicked the tires on Jake DeBrusk. Probably due diligence.
