The NY Rangers have selected center Jayden Grubbe with their first third round pick of the 2021 NHL Draft. Grubbe had a knee injury last season, thus he didn’t play. He put up 6-23-29 in his rookie WHL season before blowing out his knee.
On the broadcast, he was said to be a two-way player with good leadership. The comp tool is a little off because he only played five games this season, but it’s worth posting nonetheless.
The pick does address a big need at center, as the organizational depth is bad there.
