Per Rick Carpiniello, it looks like Seattle wants to take Colin Blackwell in the expansion draft. This shouldn’t be much of a surprise.
Hearing Seattle is going to take Colin Blackwell from #NYR … but there could be a trade in the works (for D Mark Giordano?) that changes the pick and allows Rangers to keep Blackwell.

However the big surprise is that there may be a deal in place to take Mark Giordano from Seattle to keep Blackwell in New York. Giordano, with one year left on his deal at $6.75 million, would be that veteran 3LD that the Rangers may need. Terms of any trade have not been disclosed yet. Seattle’s selection from the Rangers would likely shift to Julien Gauthier, in that case.
Naturally we don’t know if this is confirmed or not. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
EDIT: Updated the title since it was a bit unclear. I’m not even sure if I am reading that properly.
Update 2: It looks like when announced, Blackwell will be the pick. However there may be a deal announced tomorrow to send him (and perhaps Giordano?) back to the Rangers.
