Apparently Jack Johnson had sports hernia surgery and is out for the rest of the season. We knew he was playing hurt, but the extent was unknown. Darren Dreger reported the surgery today.

The Rangers are healthy on the blue line, so using Jack Johnson wasn’t likely going to happen much going forward. Libor Hajek will step up as the 7D in Johnson’s absence. This effectively ends Johnson’s tenure as a Ranger, and also removes him from any potential deadline deal.
