tony deangelo

A shocker on a Sunday, as the Rangers have placed defenseman Tony DeAngelo on waivers. DeAngelo had a career year last season, which led to his two year, $4.8 million contract this offseason. This year DeAngelo has been off to a rough start, with just one point in six games.

DeAngelo had spent two games as a healthy scratch earlier in the season, stemming from a very poorly disciplined penalty in the opener. DeAngelo has also been removed off PP1, replaced by Adam Fox.

Tony DeAngelo on waivers means the Rangers couldn’t find any takers in a trade. It had been rumored since the summer the Rangers were looking to trade him before signing him to the two year deal. This doesn’t end his time with the Rangers unless claimed.
