Braden Schneider, the NY Rangers’ second 1st round pick this year, is likely headed towards a suspension. Schneider laid a big hit in his opener against Germany in the 2021 World Juniors, but the initial contact was with the head.
Braden Schneider just tried to behead a guy, very deserving of the suspension he’s gonna get. pic.twitter.com/69I3soCkzt

The hit itself has good technique. He didn’t leave his feet. The elbow was in. But the initial contact was with the head, which is a big no-no. There is no word on whether he will be suspended or for how long, but it’s safe to assume he will miss at least a game.
I get it. Player needs to keep his head up. There’s a height difference. But it’s still initial contact to the head. It’s cut and dry, so it’s likely Braden Schneider will get a suspension of some kind. Expect that ruling to come today. Canada won 16-2 anyway.
Dylan Garand, the third string goalie, did not play in this one. Don’t expect him to get much action at all.
