Not really hockey related, but Mark Messier has filed a $500,000 lawsuit against Destiny Bioscience and its CEO Ed Moroz. Messier is claiming he was misled by Moroz, who used his status as “one of the most famous celebrities in New York” to build relationships. However this was far from a guarantee, especially in the unstable cannabis industry.
New: Former New York Rangers All-Star Mark Messier alleges he lost a $500K investment in Alberta cannabis company Destiny Bioscience.

Messier’s $500,000 investment came in the form of stock purchases. Destiny Bioscience is now up for sale with $42 million in debt. The lawsuit, unfortunately for Messier, hasn’t been proven in court. Given the personal guarantee from Moroz wasn’t in writing, it’s unlikely to stick.
