rangers ducks pavel buchnevich

Pavel Buchnevich missed practice today, and per Vince Mercogliano, coach David Quinn couldn’t elaborate.

Per league policy, any player that is believed to have been exposed to or is showing symptoms of the coronavirus is to be held out of practice. The NHL policy is to provide the reasoning “unfit to play.”

This doesn’t mean Buchnevich has the coronavirus, it just means he may have been exposed and the Rangers are following protocol. It is expected that he will have a test and will be held out for a little while until the test results come back.

Kaapo Kakko, who has looked good in camp, took Buchnevich’s place with Chris Kreider and Mika Zibanejad.

Update: Apparently teams can’t comment on any injuries. So this may not have anything to do with the coronavirus. If Buchnevich threw out his back sneezing on the bench, the team couldn’t comment on it.
