NY Rangers assign Libor Hajek to Hartford

Struggling defenseman reassigned

The NY Rangers have assigned defenseman Libor Hajek to the Hartford Wolf Pack. Hajek, who had been struggling mightily all season and through most of last year, is long overdue for this reassignment. This should help his confidence and hopefully get him back on track. The Rangers obviously saw something in Hajek when they requested him in the Ryan McDonagh trade.

No subsequent move was made, so the Rangers are without a spare defenseman at the moment. Although Brendan Smith is also a defenseman.

  • I don’t harbor the same negativity as you Dave regarding Hajek’s game. That said I think this is a good move as Lindgren has easily surpassed him on the depth chart. Play the snot out of him in Hartford.

  • Young player. Defenseman are not molded as quickly as an offensive player IMO, so hopefully he improves his play and returns.

  • I’d really like to see what Rykov brings to the table. It’s probably going to take an injury or benching to Skeij or Staal as he might be the next man up on LD.
