Rangers torch sick Ducks for dominating win

Well the Rangers really took it to the depleted Ducks in this one. They turned on the jets from the get-go and never looked back, winning 5-1 on Kids Day. Let’s jump into my reactions.

• Totally forgot this was a 12:30pm game, thought it was a 4:30 game. Oops. I blame the hangover.
• Hangover cure: Bacon, egg, cheese on a croissant and an obnoxiously sized iced coffee, black. Let’s see if this holds up.
• Let’s all just pretend they took Filip Chytil 7th overall, ok? What a drive and shot on that one.
• Oh hey Brett Howden on the wing and Brett Howden with a goal. Funny how things happen.
• Also Tony DeAngelo had two straight shots where he put the puck on net low, hard, and to the opposite pad. Twice he created rebounds, and this one went in.
• And Brendan Smith with the gloved down puck giveaway followed promptly by a Micheal Haley giveaway for the Sam Steel goal. Yea, the goal was a nice batting out of mid-air goal, but that’s a pair of bad turnovers.
• Hahahahaha Chris Kreider is so fast.
• Also, this is apparently the game where everyone gets the proverbial monkey off their backs.
• Did I see that correctly? Eighteen shots in the first period? Nice.
• The second period seems slower, maybe it’s because my hangover is starting to subside.
• Nope, hangover is still here. Now dizzy. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
• Kreider lifted the defenseman’s stick before getting his stick down on the ice for the deflection. Wow.
• The refs really don’t like Brendan Lemieux at all. Don’t know how he gets penalties there.
• Stupid hangover. I need Wendy’s.
• How is Lemieux the only one penalized at the end of the period? And a misconduct? What were the refs watching?
• I guess the Ducks forgot about Jacob Trouba? I mean, he slid right past both of them on that Zibanejad goal.
• The Rangers look really good, but you know what? So does Henrik Lundqvist. Dialed in today.
• And there’s the long await fight with…Micheal Haley.
• And Chytil is down after his knee buckled. Looked ugly. Nothing dirty, just unfortunate.
• Wonder if Lias Andersson will rescind his trade request now that a center spot has opened up…
• Wonder if the Rangers are going to try to get Kreider the hat trick.
• Whew. Chytil is back. Crisis averted. Lias trade request still active.
• Ohhh Kreider almost had it.
• Strong win.
