Rangers send Boo Nieves to Hartford

Center's short recall stint ends unspectacularly

Looks like David Quinn has had enough of the Boo Nieves experiment, sending the 25-year-old center back to the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack. Nieves played in four games, primarily in a fourth line role, getting 30 minutes of total ice time in those four games (about 7:30 average). He took a tripping penalty in the first period last night and barely played after that.

Nieves did not have a point in his four games and had two minor penalties.

  1. DQ has an immediate love/hate relationship with players. He makes his mind up and that is that. Notice how Lias isn’t coming back?

McKegg, who is not in any future plans, will be back in the lineup, as will Staal. Ugh!

  2. If given a legit chance Boo could serve as a 4th line player @ 10+ minutes a night, but he won’t be given that chance — at least not here.

  3. Nieves needed to make a positive impact of some kind in the four games he played in on this latest call-up, and he did not. He scores prolifically in the minors, but does virtually nothing when called up. Would like to see if Andersson given another chance with the big club this season

    1. Has Lias, in his 5 (?) wolfpack games this season, done enough to force a call-up? Not snarky asking out of pure ignorance. Anyone readers here watching the pack the year?

  4. DQ is starting to remind me of Torts…I thought the guy was a patient coach..mmmmm not so patient…
