NY Rangers Game 25 Open Thread: No Hughes in the Kakko/Hughes Showdown

The Rangers face the Devils in another matinee

The Rangers are back in action today, taking on the Devils in their second matinee in as many days. Jack Hughes, who has started to produce like the #1 overall pick, is out with a lower body injury. Shucks.

The Devils, like the Rangers, are not a good team. It was mostly their goaltending for a while, and they made the drastic decision to send Cory Schneider to the AHL. Talking about a good goalie who just lost it. Man, what happened to him?

The Rangers, although still a defensive nightmare, are strong offensively. If they ever had structure to their defensive game, then they might be a dark horse for the playoffs. Alas, there is no defensive structure. This could be a chippy game.

  • Pretty complete game.
Hated the penalties and another too many men, but the PK was great.
Was not sure about that Kreider major, TBH.
Glad for Georgie to get the shutout.
Shutout on the road against anyone, especially on the back end of a back to back, is fantastic.
Devs look like they’re ready to implode.

  • We took my grandson to the game yesterday, and he had a blast. Way tooooo many penalties for my taste, but we get two shorties, so what more can we ask for, ha, ha, ha……..The kids looked good, Kakko with the assist on Fox’s goal, the two shorties, Brady’s empty net was funny. As we were leaving the Rock, there were some signs on a car within the building that read “Fire Himes”, are we to think that they may be angry with their coach,LOL!!!!!!!!!!

    • Glad you and your grandson got to see a really good game by the Rangers, and a win.

The Devs look to be falling apart. Trades are coming, Hall to start< and Hynes may be a goner soon.

      • Tony

My son and I do this every year, take Jake to a matinee game, and this was a great one for the boy to see.
Funny you mentioning Hall, he looked disinterested yesterday, and got put on his rump by Trouba, beautiful clean hit.
Seeing the Devils in their old uniforms brought back many memories, good, and bad.
Watching the “Hot Dog” Subban, he is a dirty, cheap shot artist, and I would love for someone to just put as fist down his ugly throat, what a jerk.
Got caught up in terrible traffic going back to PA, took some three hours plus, but it was all worth the trip to spend the holiday with family!!!!!!!

        • I’m hearing that Hall could be moved very soon. Avs may be in play.

          Very nice family tradition.

        • How about Simmonds going after Lindgren at the end of the game, trying to goad him into a fight,he’s a first class dirtbag!

          • Missed that because we had to take my son to catch a flight that night. Why do you complement Simmons, he is a first rate duuussssssssh bag.
