phil di giuseppe

This one slipped through a bit, mostly because it hasn’t been confirmed yet, but it looks like the Rangers have added forward Phil Di Giuseppe on a one year contract at about $700k.

When I say it hasn’t been confirmed, I mean none of the major Rangers beats or TSN sources have said anything about it. Di Giuseppe, 25, was a former 2nd round pick by Carolina before spending the latter half of last season with Nashville. His career NHL line is 14-27-41 in 150 games. He appeared in 24 games last year and put up a line of 1-3-4. At the AHL level, Di Giuseppe is about a 0.5 PPG player.

Di Giuseppe is likely added insurance depth at the NHL level and a veteran presence in Hartford on the wing. Given what we know about the Hartford signings to date, my guess is he’s a character guy who will be good for the kids in the locker room.
