Game 59: More pre-deadline games against playoff teams

The Rangers are back in action tonight against the currently playoff-bound Hurricanes, a team that has always been good from a possession standpoint, but lacked something (goaltending, mostly) to get them over the hump. Now they are looking like a wild card team with some fun post-game celebrations.

The Blueshirts are yo-yoing between the 10th overall pick and the 7th overall pick on a nightly basis. The Canes are on a roll right now, so that may help with the draft position tonight. At some point, the guys who are getting traded will be scratched, although tonight likely isn’t the case with the injuries mounting.

Hayes and Zucc should be on bubble wrap and not playing.

These are the Rangers, tempt fate so we can get the worst possible outcome.

I look at the lineup and think the coach gave up already! We have a coach who wants to show we can win with one arm tied behind our backs. We are in a sorry shape. Not the team but the coach just like AV. We have 2 fourth lines and Filip is on one.

Looks like our “average” goalie had himself a game…

I’d agree with you Sittoo! But according to a couple posters here, Hank’s outstanding 43-save performance tonight was actually inferior to Georgiev’s clapping on the bench, Antti Raanta’s 20 minute exercise bike ride today in physical therapy, and Cam Talbot’s ability to call for an Uber ride through the difficult-to-navigate Philadelpia streets.

Another 2 feel good pts because of our goalie.

Can’t have a tank when you have Hank.

Oof Sieve. 3:30 is waaaaay too early to be waking up. You missed the stellar pad stack on Williams at the end. Worth a look. Hank was as good as I expected him to be since he usually comes back from these “mini-benchings” raring to go and prove to those wide-eyed backups he’s not going anywhere (for a couple of years at least!).

Even more fun getting up at 3:30 when I was skating a few nights a week ! ? … I’ll check it out later tonight .

Another nice effort. Rough first period and much better play in the last two periods.

Hank was pretty spectacular several times. While first and second lines were bottled up a lot, Namestnikov and Chytil and Buch and Strome were having decent nights. DeAngelo was all over the ice tonight, a nice game by him again. Keep it going kid. Smith also looked pretty good again.

I thought that was one of DeAngelo’s best games and one of Staal’s worst! Good for Namestnikov- he deserves it.

Tony D blossoming along with Nemer are positive signs……..expect the unexpected during the upcoming trading deadline day….

ADA once again proving he’s probably the best all-round d’man on this team — that is both a positive and a negative to suggest the Rangers currently don’t have a d’man playing as well as Tony. That said his play is starting to make me wonder if he has the capability of being a Top pair d’man on the right side — if he continues to refine his play over the next couple of years, well he just might be. He oozes talent, his decision making has been very good overall.

very true. In that respect, it is good to see.

and even with the trade deadline looming, they are giving effort.
