Game 50: Another #TheVision divisional game

After Tuesday’s super exciting 1-0 loss to Philly, the Rangers are back at it tonight against the Devils. The good news is that Pavel Buchnevich is back, so the Rangers are actually dressing 12 forwards. Naturally he’s stuck dragging around two non-offensive players though. Sigh. Sometimes I wonder.

But hey, the Devils aren’t good either! Taylor Hall is out. Cory Schneider forgot how to goalie. This was a team that was supposed to make the playoffs, and they are worse than the Rangers! That’s what happens, I guess. It’s fun to watch the Devils flail.

Buch on the 4th line again … it would be funny except it really isn’t for a coach who supposedly knows how to get the best out of younger players. Of course DQ could have gone with 7 d’ again because it worked so well the other night. If Howden didn’t get hurt and the Rangers still lost the game the other night by a 1-0 score DQ would have probably have kept Buch in the press box again.

Have a feeling Buch will get moved up at some point during the game. Maybe just wishful thinking. But yeah, you’re 100 percent right that this coach sure isn’t putting him in the best position to succeed, which is one of the most important things a coach can do.

You nailed it! And he responded really well in the 3rd. Hopefully a sign of good things to come.

Ha, yeah I’ve seen this movie before! Usually ends with Sam and Joe praising the coach for bringing out the best in the player and then making a brilliant line change. Grrrrr.

But was encouraging to see Buch involved. Not sure how it made any sense to give Vesey and Fast to Hayes as linemates. Mika’s line was super again, and we have the talent for a strong 2nd line as well with Hayes, Chytil, Buch. If only.

Buch tied to 2 mutts and DeAngelo out.

When does the “development” phase start in earnest?

    • Jan 31, 2019 at 6:48 pm

Buchnevich on the 4th line and DeAngelo scratched?

I am beginning to lose my patience with Quinn.

That’s what my friend texted me, based on warm ups.

Word for word what I came here to say.

      • Jan 31, 2019 at 9:44 pm

Yep Peter, that plus the fact that DQ never seems to REALLY smile. I swear he would make me nervous on the bench. Dude needs a laxative.

Not a fan of this coach

      • Jan 31, 2019 at 8:46 pm

I wanna be bro, but he’s making it very hard.

        • Jan 31, 2019 at 8:51 pm

I am a VERY patient fan. But when I lose it, I lose it quickly. And I’m really starting to lose my patience with this nonsense.

what’s bad is that they’re trying to WIN, not TANK. scary, isn’t it?

      • Jan 31, 2019 at 10:04 pm

Question is does he have complete control? Or does the Big Hidden Dog have lots of say??

    • Jan 31, 2019 at 8:25 pm

Clearly, after the trade deadline. You have to give them time, could you do a re-build in 12 months? Come on Rich, seriously.

      • Jan 31, 2019 at 8:48 pm

I mean I do say that too, wait until after all the trades shake out.

But here’s all you need to know, that was said by Michelletti: “Buch has the puck, looks up, no one to pass to…”

      • Jan 31, 2019 at 9:49 pm

JoeS, patience is fine for the overall “renovation” of the team … what’s upsetting some here (myself included) is the way the coach keeps going to the bathroom on Buchnevich and DeAngelo — two young players that in 2-3 years will enter their prime. They need to be developed NOW, not later. It’s particularly upsetting when you see his treatment of guys like Howden (whom I like), Namestnikov (who often times disappears), etc.

Wow what a night for Zib. He’s getting great service by the magical Hobbit.

  • Jan 31, 2019 at 9:45 pm

The turning point of the game was Z scoring at the end of the first. Buch looked like he had his head out of his ass tonight, and played a decent game for himself. If we have to win, well it’s against the Devils so that’s a good thing!!!!!!!!!

    • Jan 31, 2019 at 9:51 pm

Except the Devils will surely draft before us, damn fargin bastages.

  • Jan 31, 2019 at 10:27 pm

I just can’t root for the tank so was happy with the win. Mika’s line is, as my grandsons say, lit. Buch looked good in the 3rd and Hank came up big when it counted. And yes I know it was against the Devils…

  • Feb 1, 2019 at 12:59 am

Zib and the Hobbit were pretty outstanding. Hayes played well too. I never root for them to lose even though I want them to be in a good draft position. You do want the team trying and guys like their young veteran forwards have too much talent and love to play too much to tank. So I was happy to see Zibanejad’s hat trick and chalking up a win. I just want them to do it with their young people and to play them, not the older defensemen.
