Game 2: Battle of the potential bottom feeders in Buffalo

After Thursday night’s strong effort in the home opener loss to Nashville, the Rangers are up Buffalo to take on the always bad Sabres. Buffalo should be better, but they aren’t. It’s weird. Also the Rangers are predicted to be a bottom feeder, but they do have solid forward depth and goaltending. That’s why they play the games.

As for the lineup, Cody McLeod comes in for Vlad Namestnikov. David Quinn said this was more about McLeod than Namestnikov, which I will take him at his word for. It’s Game 2. This is normal – coaches will play everyone on the roster and eventually settle into who he prefers to have as his 12/6 lineup. For the next month or so, expect things like this.

Rangers lineup:

Buffalo lineup:

Crazy Prediction: Gordie Howe hat trick for McLeod.

Game time is 7pm.

“Gordie Howe hat trick for McLeod.”

A missed hit where he crashes into the boards, tripping over the blue or red line, and a worthless “talk” to an opposing player?

That’s highly likely and not crazy at all.

There is no good reason to have him on this team….especially after nobody got paid back for Chytil

Why are you using that idiot’s pathetic attempt at humor for nicknames? It devalues an otherwise professional website.

  • Oct 6, 2018 at 6:47 pm

I like the nicknames nothing wrong with a little humor. Whatshisnameoff gets some time in the pressbox to get over whatever it is that is bothering him. If he is unhappy wearing the Ranger jersey then the Club should move him out.

Two losses and frankly if they lose all 82 like they have lost these 2….and I would be proud of them. Losing in this manner is nothing to be ashamed of.

That Vezina minimum wage goalie Buffalo has is something !

      • Oct 7, 2018 at 8:25 am

Hutton is making $2.75 million annually, he’s 32 years old, and has never started more than 40 games in an NHL career that’s now in its sixth full season. In other words, you think he’s great because he had one good game.

Is there any point to your hockey fandom at all, Sieve, other than to be an anti-Hank troll? I don’t think so. Awesome how you show up to talk simpleminded trash for every game thread, though.

Another HOF back up goalie. Just because the Rangers can’t solve him, which isn’t saying much offensively, doesn’t mean that he won’t get lit up once he gets past 40 games.

If it even lasts that long. Right Scott Darling?

I was just chatting with Leather …. move along

Leather I liked that alaire made a few adjustments and Hank actually challenges out of the net. Staal still looks awfully slow and shayhispants is what he is

Sieve—You are a semiliterate moron and troll. You’re the one who should be leaving.

            Hey Sieve
The experience they are gaining is only a positive thing for the youngins. Leaky was superb in game one and played well last night. The boys lost, they weren’t beaten. Howden won some key faceoffs and played late in the 3rd period. Coach sat Hayes sending a message. Good on him.
I was never a Hank hater but his fans got out of control and still are out of control. Too many keyboard warriors in literally every venue and their hypocrisy will remain with us. The way those Leaky fans threw Girardi under the bus yet when Leaky was at fault defended him was my reason to start speaking out.
I am fully aware of what it will take to get this team to win a cup and I hate to tell youse that it requires a process which in turn manifests into patience. Let them (management) do their part. Full disclosure this past draft has me concerned. It reminds me of the 1977 draft.
What I know as a fact is 2 losses and they were not embarrassed which is a good thing. I prefer Dylan Cozens, Kirby Dach, Raphael Lavoie or Kaapo Kakko as our 1st pick in the area of where we should be picking barring a miracle and we win the lottery.

Yeah Leather MC doooshaaay , same old stuff . Tough part is no one in NY is patient to wait it out including management and especially Hank lovers!

Agreed my friend. For the most part, they are playing with passion and effort.

I said all along, lots of effort and one goal losses. So I’m 2 for 2 on that (forget empty netters).

The 2 players that should be ashamed of themselves are Names and our friend’s hero Hayes. These 2 can’t be traded fast enough for my liking. I would rather see Andersson play. As I said all along, there’s too many bad things that can happen to lower Hayes’ trade value. It’s early but it started already. He’s done nothing so far.

But this is why McLeod should not be the 13th forward, as Quinn has no choice but to play him when he benches someone.

      • Oct 7, 2018 at 8:37 am

Spot on about McLeod. Waste of roster space, and he limits Quinn’s roster options at forward.

        • Oct 7, 2018 at 8:41 am

So that’s on Gorton. I mean come on, there was NO OTHER VET that could be signed for one year at a million or less?

Stupid. And what’s even worse, the reason why McLeod was signed (grit) and he can’t even do that, as he proved once again last night. It’s very sad to watch quite frankly.

They battle, they have desire. results not there, but im enjoying the games so far.
