Rangers recall Peter Holland, send Boo Nieves to Hartford

peter holland

The Rangers have recalled forward Peter Holland from the Hartford Wolf Pack. They have also sent center Boo Nieves back to Hartford.

Holland was acquired by the Rangers earlier this season from Toronto for forward –and waiver claim– Adam Cracknell. Holland had a line of 5-9-14 with the Pack since his acquisition (16 games).

Nieves, the Blueshirts’ second rounder in 2012, had a line of 1-8-9 in 28 games, primarily in fourth line duties. Nieves found great chemistry with Jesper Fast and Paul Carey upon his call up, but had seen his game slip a little bit recent. In all fairness, everyone’s game has slipped.

  • Potentially this is a good move. Holland has looked very good in Hartford and perhaps can be a good player for the Rangers. This gives them a chance to see what they have. If he can be a half way competent top nine center, the Rangers can get rid of Desharnais and bring Nieves back. If not, they send him back down.

In any case, I don’t expect Boo to be gone for terribly long.

    • You don’t expect him to be gone for long? Why? He’s not very good. There is a bit of a difference between the AHL and the NHL in case you havent noticed.

    • Boo has a line of 0-3-3 in his last 13 games after going 0-3-3 in his first game. Considering he is 1-8-9 in 28 games this season it means he’s 1-5-6 in his last 27. He’s been a decent 4th line player this season, but he’ll probably remain in Hartford unless Lettieri or Holland struggle.

  • This move was long overdue, Now if we can only move Staal,Holden,Kampfer,Desharnais and bring up Pionk,DeAngelo,Graves,Nieves

  • Standing at the goal and watching everyone (but him) battle for a loose puck sure did not increase his usefulness – even for AV…
