Injuries

McIlrath, Staal out versus Buffalo

Both Dylan McIlrath (knee) and Marc Staal (back) will not travel with the team to Buffalo for Tuesday’s game. Staal is still dealing with his back spasms, and McIlrath tweaked his knee in last night’s game against the Islanders. Both are considered day-to-day.

The Rangers will recall a defenseman from Hartford for tomorrow’s game.

Update: Henrik Lundqvist will not travel with the team either.

  1. you have to win these games against teams that won’t make the playoffs this is a two point game for us the last time we played buffalo in nyc brass came up big let’s hope so again.

  2. So Skjei’s playing, then?

What are the chances Graves gets a shot? I mean, it’s only Buffalo.

  3. Must say, I feel a bit relieved with the word Tweak regarding Mcllraths knee injury.

  4. 43, I think we are at a point in the season where the criteria is not about giving a player a “shot”. It’s simply about who can best help us get two points, Sabres or no Sabres. That’s up to Gorton in consultation with the Wolfpack brain trust.

    1. Also, come Playoff time, if the Rangers need an extra Dman, they’d rather have Skje with six games of experience than Skjei and Graves with three each.

Personally though I wonder whether AV would opt for Skjei or the more experienced Diaz in the playoffs. Of course, I don’t know if Diaz is still the player he was two years ago.
