TSN have had a look at the two conferences heading into the trade deadline and have looked briefly into each club. They broke down players with expiring contracts, each club’s top prospects and which players may be of interest to other clubs while at the same time also considering what each club may want to add themselves and the position they find themselves in.

In the Rangers, TSN see a club that thanks to their recent moves, has a chance to compete. Given this opinion they must consider the Rangers – like many Blueshirts fans do – to have made quality progress this season and it’s always nice to see the Rangers get praise in the media. Much like everyone else that watches the Rangers TSN think the Blueshirts could benefit from a veteran defenseman so it seems the opinion is the same league wide. Whether the obvious happens is another thing as if everyone indeed knows it, what will the price be if the Rangers go knocking on various GM’s doors?

Looking at the other clubs in the East TSN list defensemen such as Brian Lee, Tomas Kaberle (obviously), Bryan Allen and Henrik Tallinder that may be ‘of interest’ come deadline day while they also note players such as Bryan McCabe and his expiring contract. It will be interesting to see if any of these (or other defensemen) will be heading to NY though you can immediately rule out players such as Tallinder and Allen, neither of whom fill a void on the Rangers roster.
