Opponent: Pittsburgh Penguins

2010-2011 Record: 9-8-1

2010-2011 Leading Scorer: Sidney Crosby (12+15 – 27…. plus 5 whines, sorry couldn’t resist.)

Goalie:

Rangers Line Up:

Alex Frolov-Erik Christensen-Marian Gaborik

Brandon Dubinsky-Artem Anisimov-Ryan Callahan

Sean Avery-Brian Boyle-Brandon Prust

Todd White-Derek Stepan-Ruslan Fedotenko

Marc Staal-Dan Girardi

Michael Del Zotto-Steve Eminger

Mike Sauer-Matt Gilroy

Henrik Lundqvist

Martin Biron

Scratched tonight: Chris Drury (finger), Vinny Prospal (knee), and Derek Boogaard (Hand)

State of the Blueshirts: Pretty Good. The Rangers coming off a dominant win (albeit a poor opponent) and two wins in a row. The pens will be an acid test, much like the Caps, as to whether the Rangers can go toe to toe with a heavyweight. Gaborik is flying and Anisimov has 3 goals in 2 games. Lundqvist is back in after sitting two games due to illness. Good times ahead.

Crazy thought:Someone beats up Crosby in a fight. Gaborik has back to back hat tricks. Two crazy thoughts?!

Final prediction: Rangers 3 Penguins 4 (OT) (Sorry Rangers fans…)

Game faces off at 7pm. Sorry for the late game thread people. Enjoy!

  1. While the Edmonton win was the most entertaining, this win against the Pens was the most satisfying. Despite grotesquely lopsided officiating (The Pens committed NO penalties all game? Please!) the Rangers hung in there and took advantage of their oppotunities, bolstered by an amazing performance by the King. Wow. (And another point for Feds!). Hope Girardi isn’t too badly damaged. Really starting to appreciate the hustle by Eminger, and glad that Christensen is starting produce. Callahan really played his legs off too. It wasn’t pretty but it was a huge win.
