The Rangers, with yet another lineup, take on the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in their final matchup of the 2008-2009 regular season. The Rangers beat the Ducks in their only meeting this season, Nigel Dawes schooled Chris Pronger en route to the 3-1 win. The Ducks are anything but Mighty in the past two months, going 9-10-2 since December 1st.

The Ducks are always dangerous, with two of the best young stars in the game today in Getzlaf and Perry. As good as those two are, they also have 149 PIMs combined, and are among the league leaders in minor penalties taken. Bobby Ryan has also emerged as a very good, very young winger. Since replacing the injured Teemu Selanne, Ryan has been on a tear, putting up a line of 9/8/17 in 14 games. They also have one of the best 1-2 punches in net, with Hiller and Giguere.

The Rangers are coming off a 3-1-1 road trip which, excluding that debacle against the Penguins, was very successful. If they could ever get the PP to function like a PP should, they could be one of the more dangerous teams in the NHL. This is nothing new though, we’ve known this for almost four years now.

It’s a 7:00pm start time tonight on MSG (the Knicks are off, so the Rangers get first dibs on the main channel. How sad is it that the Dolan’s can’t even put the winning team on MSG? There is no reason why we should ever have to watch games on channel 14 while the Knicks are still the laughing stock of the league. But I digress.). This should be a hard hitting game.
