Let’s call this decision questionable, as David Quinn will be scratching forward Pavel Buchnevich tonight. The Rangers will roll 11F/7D for the game, which is always a recipe for success. Quinn was quoted by Dan Rosen:
Quinn said he’s not really frustrated with Buchnevich because he’s still young and he has bad habits that are hard to break. He said sometimes players need to regress before they progress and Buchnevich might be in that situation.

So there’s no grudge, and this is how Quinn grows his players. This is what he was hired for. I don’t like the decision, but I’m not there. Personally, with Mats Zuccarello out, I thought this was a good time to see if the break helped reset whatever issues he had, and put him on the top-six. But what do I know?
