The Rangers are back at it this afternoon, taking on Connor McDavid and whatever cast of characters the Edmonton front office has put around him. I kind of feel bad for McDavid, as his talent is being wasted because Peter Chiarelli and crew have no idea how to assemble a supporting cast of characters. Imagine McDavid as your Iron Man, leading the charge, but his supporting cast is just a dozen Hawkeyes.
As for the Rangers, they are fresh off a dramatic win against San Jose. It was one that was unexpected, and also one that will likely be few and far between. Today though, we get the ideal top pairing of Skjei-Shattenkirk. We also see Howden on the second line, a reward for his great play. This is as close as the lineup will be to ideal, given the makeup.
Overall, #NYR practice: Kreider-Zibanejad-Fast, Buchnevich-Howden-Zuccarello, Vesey-Hayes-Spooner, Namestnikov-Chytil-Lettieri. (McLeod extra)
Skjei-Shattenkirk, Staal-Pionk, Claesson-Smith (DeAngelo-McQuaid).
