Rangers ask Rick Nash for 18 team no trade list

Trade deadline season is heating up. Bob McKenzie and Larry Brooks are reporting that the Rangers have asked Rick Nash for his 18 team no trade list, leaving 13 teams he can be traded to. Brooks also mentioned that all Canadian teams are likely to be on his list, so we can rule out any Winnipeg or Toronto rumors.

I can see Nash as a good fit in Nashville, if just for the puns. Nash will get a good amount at the deadline, especially since the Rangers are more than likely to retain 50% of his $7.8 million salary. Nash will likely be the first domino to fall for the Rangers, especially if they are already asking for his list. Nash is just waiting to know, at this point.

The best Ranger on this team outside of Hank.

I hope he brings back a fair return, goes to a contending club that advances in the playoffs and, if the price is right, comes back to the Ranger’s.

    Quality hockey player, quality individual.

I posted on the other thread that I wouldn’t be surprised to see him back next season, at a reduced rate. Class act, stated that he has to play for the guys in the room, that he is very fond of. We could use that attitude with some of the dead wood as well, the ones that don’t seem to give a flying flip other than for their checks!

The old Aroldis Chapman trick. Works for this Ranger lover..

Now that the rebuild is coming

People I would trade in no particular order

Ask them all to waive theirs . They are not going to help us in our rebuilding except as assets to get younger talent, whatever that payback is.

And before you say oh it’s hank, give the guy a shot at winning a cup with another contender team. He deserves it.

In theory, nothing would preclude him from listing in his 18 no trade teams all the teams with legitimate aspirations to win, and leaving on his 12 the likes of Buffalo, Arizona, etc, which would not want him. I raise this supposition only because I know how much he and his family like being in NY.

Tend to disagree with you on that. He understands the business side of it, and wouldn’t want to hurt the organization by pulling a stunt like that, he’s too classy……………….

I was just theorizing. But, you’re likely right, for several reasons: 1) because he would be probably hurting his own chances of returning to the club next year, if that’s what he wants, and 2) by being a rental could help the Rangers be better in the process. And 3), of course, all competitors want a chance to win a championship.

Nash and Smith to CBJs for Jack Johnson, a #1, and a very good young player.

I doubt he wants to go to Columbus

      I think his wish is
      San Jose
      Las Vegas
Nashville (His hope to go to)
      Tampa Bay
      St Louis

        Not Dallas?

I think Nash would be a good fit in Dallas. They got lots of good young players and prospects they could ante up for him.

Dallas Nushtuskin Roussel and a #1 . Can we package him somewhere with Staal and take a little less return , addition by subtraction . Need to redo D in a big way . If we don’t get a good return for McD then keep him and find a partner for him . Next year D has to get faster for sure Dallas beat us to all the puck battles last night . We didn’t play bad for an AHL team last night against a good NHL team .
    Next year
    McD ######
    Skjei ADA
    Shatty Smith if [still here
See who makes the jump Gilmour Pionk Day Graves on D and Up front Ronning Gettinger Litieri Chytil Andersson and what ever we pick up from the trade dead line and in the draft . Must not be on team at training camp .
Holden Kampfer DD Carey Holland And if possible Staal in some way , can’t believe how slow we have gotten

I can name a laundry list of teams he’d look good on. I have severe doubts on Gorton’s judgement of value so heres hoping he doesn’t come back with a couple 2nds.

I think he will bring back a good return and I certainly wish him the best. Hope for him he can go on and pull a Gaborik and have a great play off and win a cup…He should fit in well in Nashville or Dallas. Also could see him as a good fit with The Kings or Ducks.
