Dan Girardi back in lineup, on top pair

March 24, 2017, by

Per Larry Brooks, Dan Girardi is back in the lineup. He is practicing on the top pair with Ryan McDonagh. Marc Staal and Nick Holden are back together. Brady Skjei and Brendan Smith are the third pair. Adam Clendening and Steve Kampfer are the scratches.

This is what we expected from Alain Vigneault, as disappointing as it is. At this point it’s beyond the players, it’s on the coach. These are not the optimal pairs for a team that wants to succeed in the playoffs.

Who knows? Maybe this is just a one game thing before AV tinkers more. But I’m not optimistic. You can’t teach an old dog new tricks.

Time will tell about the top pair concern. But when I last checked this, it seemed clear that the Rangers were playing their best hockey prior to the Girardi’s injury, both defensively and record wise.

That’s the thing that gets me. Fans are complaining about Girardi and I realize he’s not what he once was, but our record is much better with Girardi in it. Not only that but AV could just be trying to see what he can do with different pairings. After all we finally have a season where we have a chance to relax a bit and try different combos.

Also, per Zipay, Buch is back in for Glass.

AV announced that Hank will be back in nets Sunday, so Raanta will likely make his last start for a while tomorrow.

Klein will be back in sometime during this road trip–AV didnt want both Girardi and Klein coming back on the same day.

If they don’t start putting the biscuit in the basket, it wont matter who is on D.
Pass Pass Pass Shoot the efing puck Barry.

Exactly Jerry. But everyone out here gives “The Untouchables” a pass. And I do literally mean a “pass”! 🙂

The problem is, even when they do shoot, they either cant put it on net, or if they do, it’s an easy save more often than not.

Our strength is supposed to be our offfense, If those guys don’t get it in gear, you are right, it wont matter anyway.

Jerry, put a in his prime Barry Beck on this Ranger team and I am a happy camper.

This was as predictable as my saying the sun will rise again tomorrow, even if it’s behind clouds, it will rise. Unfortunately Girardi is the cloud!!!!!!!!!
