Rangers re-sign Jason Missiaen

Per Renaud Lavoie, the Rangers have re-signed RFA goaltender Jason Missiaen to a one-year, two-way deal worth $715,000 at the NHL level. Missiaen bounced between the ECHL and AHL last season, putting up a .919 SV% with the Greenville Road Warriors, but a pretty bad .864 SV% with the Hartford Wolf Pack. Missiaen will serve as organizational depth in the minors.

Is he our 3rd 4th or 5th string goalie?

    • Dave says:

Depends how everyone plays in camp.

    • Ray says:

He is supposed to be the fourth string goalie. I was surprised that the Rangers kept him as he fared so poorly this year, but goalie depth is awful and the Rangers expect Skapski to be ECHL-bound this year (at least I think so). Desjardins is the only guy the Rangers would trust as an injury replacement at this point. Two injuries would necessitate a roster move unless Missaien progresses the way he looked like he might in 2012-13.
