Rangers recall Miller, return McIlrath and Asham to AHL

December 19, 2013, by

With the holiday roster freeze approaching at midnight tonight, the Rangers made a trio of roster moves to set themselves up for the next week. They returned forward Arron Asham and defenseman Dylan McIlrath to the AHL. They also recalled forward J.T. Miller for the third time this season. Hopefully the third time is a charm for Miller and the Rangers, who desperately need some form of consistency in the lineup.

  1. Walt says:

Nice to see Miller up again. Now let’s not see him for all of 5-6 minutes a game, that would be a crime.

    • Bloomer says:

JT Miller continues to lit it up for the Wolfpack. It is just a matter of time before he starts to make an impact in the NHL.

  2. supermaz says:

Now put him on a line with Boyle and Pouliot for 5 minutes a night and expect results…..morons.

    • Mike Red says:

Don’t pick on Boyle, Kevin says hes one of the best defensive forwards in the game…..I hope you see the sarcasm…..I agree with your post 100%

  3. william a regad says:

i just dont get how they are not getting the opportunities they had last year to score.seems like some skate harder then some, dont have that niche they had where they were in the right place to score

  4. Mark says:

This whole thing is becoming a joke, unless there is a trade for some toughness coming that we do not know about. Why were McIlrath and Asham called up to begin with? The kid gets one game takes on one of the top heavyweights and gets sent down. The obvious thing to do is to let Pouliot sit, give Miller some time to play and get at least one tough guy in the lineup. You think Carkner and Martin are worried about playing this team tonight? Or wait, maybe lucic, chara and thornton will feel equally as challenged by the Rangers when they next play. I have seen this over and over again..i fail to see the logic in all these small moves. It is not Asham’s fault that the team cannot score, on any other team he would not be expected to.

  5. Frank Cerbone says:

Let’s see Martin/Dorsett & Carkner/Boyle have history. Sather might have better luck putting Pee Wee Herman in the lineup across from Martin/Carkner.

Sather is just a jerk; always has & always will be……must be blood related to Dolan
