Update on commenting guidelines

Hey there BSB faithful, the staff here just wanted to take a minute to bring you guys and gals up to speed on the commenting guidelines for the site.  We will be dedicating a spot shortly as a reference to these policies, but for right now, we wanted to run a post so everyone is on the same page.

We value everyone’s comments and contributions to the BSB community and want to make sure everyone’s comments are added to the posts.  We don’t moderate comments as you post them, but do reserve the right to edit or remove offensive, inflammatory or derogatory remarks.  There is also an automatic filter that catches comments containing the f-bomb.

In recent weeks, we have had several commenters’ posts caught in the filter due to the inclusion of hyperlinks.  Our software has a built in filter for spamming sites and the like to keep virus-ridden hyperlinks out of the comments section.  Unfortunately, this is not a feature we can turn off and this is not the type of content the filter has caught recently.  We enjoy and encourage you folks to send us links to informative sites, which either shed light on an issue that is being discussed, disputes erroneous information, or just simply educates our readership on this great game of ours’. To avoid having your link caught in the filter, send us a quick email letting us know you are posting a link so we can manually approve the comment or just email the link and we will post it for you (with a stick tap for your contribution, obviously).

We are always looking for ways to improve the blog experience for you, our valued readers, and we don’t want to see your comments caught in the filter when they are adding quality substance to our discussions.  Please feel free to email us with any questions, comments or suggestions.

Thanks again for reading,

The BSB Staff
