Sunday Open Thread

It’s beautiful day outside, so I recommend you go out and play. But for those of you looking to watch some hockey or local sports, the Devils and Flyers kick off their series today at 3pm, with Nashville and Phoenix playing Game Two of their series tonight at 8pm. As for the local teams, the Yankees are currently on the field against the Tigers, and the Mets will play at 3pm against the Rockies.

Use this as your open thread for the day. Discuss whatever you want, just keep it clean.

  1. Tim says:

Will the Rangers re-sign Stu Bickel and Martin Biron? Or sign younger and better players?

    • Justin says:

I think Biron will be back on a 1-year deal. Until there is a kid in the system who appears to have the ability to push Hank a little, the veteran backup is the way to go. Biron knows his role and plays it well, and being a good locker room guy is always a plus. Additionally, with Hank’s workhorse status, a cheap backup makes the most sense from a cap-space perspective.

Bickel will be a product of the market, I think. He is only making $600,000 this season and if he wants a significant raise, I bet they let him walk. Other options on the market will also play a role as well as Stralman’s emergence or Justin Shultz deciding he wants to hang out with Step and McD again. Erixon’s development and future role on the team could help squeeze Bickel out too if he strives to be more than a depth piece or bottom pair guy.

      • Walt says:

Your right, but I would love to see this guy be a Ranger, if for no reason that he had always come to the defense of his team mates, and for that he should be re-signed! Additionally, he can play forward in case of an emergency, give him 700K, and keep him happy.

  2. Spozo says:

Steve Zipay is reporting that Dubinsky is on crutches so assuming he sits tomorrow, do you suit up the same lineup as yesterday? (if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it). This is assuming Boyle doesn’t dress.

  3. steve says:

rumors about hrivik? sign him and play him…more speed and a sick shot

  4. Chris F says:

Rangers need to up the offensive pressure tomorrow night. 14 shots just isn’t going to cut it.

What do they need to change?
