Tim Erixon called up?

Update: This is now official.

Per Paul Doyle of The Hartford Courant, it appears that Tim Erixon has been called up from the Connecticut Whale. This will be Erixon’s fourth stint with the Rangers this year. Erixon has been held pointless in his previous 13 NHL contests, but has 33 points (3-30-33) in 43 games in the AHL. Erixon is currently the most NHL ready Rangers defensive prospect in the system.

The Erixon call up likely means that the combination of Anton Stralman/Steve Eminger isn’t producing results the way coach John Tortorella expects them to. Stralman has been serviceable all year, so it is likely that Eminger will be seeing the press box.

Note that the move has not been announced officially, nor is it on the AHL Transaction Log.

  1. I was waiting for this to happen. They need to see what they have in Erixon before the playoffs. He could end up being more reliable than some players they already have.

  2. With Eminger hurt, they had to make a move. Tim has a chance to prove that he belongs in the bigs, so make the most of it!!!!

  3. I do wonder what the pairings will end up with Erixon on the roster. Del Zotto with Erixon would be a Mistake in my opinion. Staal plays well with Bickel and McDonagh and Girardi speaks for itself. Stralman has not been that bad but a look of Erixon and Stralman would be interesting for a game. Removing Bickel from the line up is not a good choice. Interesting scenario for us to follow here
