Woywitka, Wolski Sent To Connecticut For Conditioning

Per Katie Strang, the Rangers have assigned Jeff Woywitka and Wojtek Wolski to the Connecticut Whale of the AHL on a two week conditioning stint. This is to get them into some games so that they are not rusty, as neither has played much recently. Woywitka hasn’t played since December 30, and Wolski since January 15. Both had been serving as injury replacements in the lineup when need be.

Woywitka and Wolski are the second and third Rangers to be assigned to CT on a conditioning stint. Erik Christensen was assigned last month and has since completed his stint.

Good news here, with Jeff getting the conditiong assignment, he should be ready to play soon, and that means Bickle will go back to the Whale. He, Bickle has played well, but Tort’s has him riding the pine way too much, which would lead me to believe that Stu is north bound.

WW should thank Tort’s for the assignment, he was getting water logged!

I dont think you will see Bickle sent down as the assumption is he will be picked up on waivers.

Woy would be the likely candidate if they cant move before the deadline.

Stu is 25, Woy is 28. Stu is a RFA, Woy is a FA. Makes sense to keep Bickle.

Does this free up cap space for a move or is that wishful thinking on my part?

Not with a conditioning stint. Guess is having WW in shape might make him a bit more tradable.

If a deal is made and cap room is needed and WW cant be traded I suspect you will see him waived and send down to the pack.
