One Hundred Thousand; One Million

This post is non-hockey related. This post is about a few milestones we accomplished last month and today in terms of hits on this website.

A note about page views vs. hits: page views are counted each time a person clicks a post, tag, category, or any page we have linked here. For example, if you were to come to the site (1), click a post to comment (2), finish posting the comment (3), then click the salary cap page (4), then go back to the home page (5), then the stats would show five page views.

We emphasize website hits, where only the initial visit is counted. We do this because it shows how many different people come to the site on a daily basis.

Where am I going with all this?

Well, in December, we crossed the 100,000 hits (not page views) mark for the month. It is the first time we here at BSB hit 100,000 hits in a month.

By the time this post is published, the blog will also have crossed the 1,000,000 hits mark (again, not page views, hits). We did this in about three years.

The hits are a testament to all of you who continually read our ramblings, follow us on Twitter, and tell your friends. You have all been tremendous supporters of the blog, and from all of us here at BSB, we thank you for the past, present and future support.

Big thanks to Mike Axisa of River Ave Blues, who helped get the word out about this little sliver of internet space three years ago. A good majority of our original readers came from Mike’s links from RAB. So thank you, Mike.

  3. Nyr1 says:

You guys really do a good job but you should not filter comments

    • Dave says:

      Uh. We don’t.

      • Callyfan says:

I can recall something that was about Avery being removed because he was called a closet (removed) due to the fact that he supports gay rights.

        • The Suit says:

We filter remarks of this nature. We’re classy.

          • VinceR says:

I don’t now why someone would have a problem with that. Don’t need the type of trash that is posted on ESPN boards here.

        • Dave says:

What Suit said. We filter hateful or discriminatory comments.

          • Shbp says:

Dave and suit bring up valid points but these are the thoughts and concerns of some of your readers, I don’t see a problem with readers talking honestly about pro athletes It’s a fan blog not church

            • VinceR says:

I see what you are saying (especially concerning hockey vs. church), but I think there is a line, Shbp. I am fine with a little salty language or vitriol towards players, but I don’t see how race, sexual orientation (imagined or actual, someone should ask Elisha Cuthburt), or items of this nature come into the discussion of a fan blog, especially if it used in a hateful way that affects more than the targeted individual.

              • Glen Miller says:

Agree with this. There are times when comments are clearly over the line, unnecessary and add nothing to the post. Granted adults can easily ignore those comments too but sometimes idiotic comments spark endless debates in the comments section that ruin what might have been a good post.

            • Dave says:

This is not a discussion point. We will remove hateful and discriminatory comments. If someone doesn’t like it, then don’t read this blog.

Be mature adults, there are ways to have a discussion without attacking players or each other.

              • Shbp says:

              • The Suit says:

                He lives vicariously through me.
