The free agent selling continues for the Rangers, as Reilly Smith will be held out of the lineup tonight for roster management purposes. Smith, a pending unrestricted free agent, is the next likely trade to occur as the Rangers continue to sell off pending UFAs. Yesterday, the Rangers got the ball rolling by trading both Jimmy Vesey and Ryan Lindgren to the Colorado Avalanche.

Smith and the recently acquired Calvin de Haan are the only pending UFAs on the roster, and it’s likely the Rangers look to trade de Haan before the deadline as well. The Blueshirts also have several pending restricted free agents, including K’Andre Miller, Zac Jones, Urho Vaakanainen, and the recently acquired Juuso Parssinen.

The Blueshirts might also look to trade non-rentals like Chris Kreider or Artemi Panarin, but those deals will be harder to manage at the deadline.
