The New York Rangers are sending six players to the Four Nations Face Off, which begins this week. Adam Fox, Chris Kreider, JT Miller, and Vincent Trocheck will represent Team USA. Urho Vaakanainen will represent Finland. And finally, Mika Zibanejad will represent Sweden. The tournament begins tomorrow with the round robin stage, with the Championship Game on February 20.

This is the NHL’s attempt to have a best-on-best tournament, though omitting Russia and perhaps a “rest of Europe” team may prevent it from being a true best-on-best tournament. I’ve been rather skeptical of the tournament, but to be fair, if the players have bought into it, then it will be fine. If it turns more into an All Star Game with minimal contact and defense, then it will be a massive bust.

We will know tomorrow when the games kick off with Canada and Sweden. USA and Finland will start on Thursday.
