The New York Rangers have recalled center Bo Groulx from the Hartford Wolf Pack. Groulx is the Pack’s second leading scorer with a line of 11-18-29 in 32 games, behind only Alex Belzile (11-21-32). The call up is a bit odd, since the Rangers already had a full roster. It’s believed the most is insurance on Filip Chytil, who is a game time decision tonight.

If Groulx is going to be up as insurance on Chytil, which would make sense given the road trip through the Rocky Mountains this week. The Rangers don’t have many options at center and many at wing. Outside of Jonny Brodzinski, the Rangers don’t have a backup center. If Chytil is good to go, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Berard back up and Groulx return to Hartford.

It is worth noting that Berard was assumed to be traveling with the team, so this may be a paper transaction.
