The Rangers are back in action in Newark to take on the Devils in the first of a back to back. Tonight will essentially be a prospects game. The Devils have most of their roster overseas at the moment, which meant they couldn’t dress most of their NHL regulars. The Rangers were likely asked not to dress their regulars until tomorrow night’s game. It’s a safe assumption the NHL allowed both teams to skirt the preseason requirements to have half the roster comprised of NHL regulars.

The Rangers will have at least one player headed for an opening night spot, and that is Jonathan Quick. On the bubble and in tonight are Brennan Othmann and Adam Edstrom, and possibly Brett Berard but it seems like he is on the outside looking in.
