Greetings my fellow degenerates, welcome back to another Blue Seat Bookie. It’s a lighter day in the NHL today, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t golden betting opportunities. Let’s take a look at some!

Define the Great Money Line: Record 2-4

Detroit Red Wings defeat the Florida Panthers +165

Florida has been a very weird team this season. They normally play better at home, but are 2-1-2 in their last 5 home games. I’m of the belief that no team downgraded in coach quite like the Panthers did after an incredible president’s trophy season. This is what Paul Maurice coached teams do, be inconsistent. Detroit on the other hand has been a fantastic road team this year going 6-3-2 on the year.

Steve Yzerman did a great job in free agency filling in some skill slots that the Red Wings needed in order to progress to this level of play in an otherwise very tough division. Doesn’t hurt this is Detroit’s first stop on the Florida trip. Always seems to be that if you play one of Florida or Tampa Bay first, it’s hard to get that win against the other Floridian hockey team.

Pull up the Covers: Record 3-3

Toronto Maple Leafs cover the spread (-1.5) against LA Kings +145

Toronto has had some unbelievable play of late from their star players. Mitch Marner setting franchise records for point streaks, Auston Matthews getting going, John Tavares having a very underrated season going point per game, they are just loaded with talent that is playing some great hockey. LA on the other hand has been struggling. They have gone 4-3-3 in their last 10 games, have given up 20 goals in their last 5 games, and they put one of their goalies on waivers to send a message. They are at a valley right now in their season. Leafs being at home for this one, I see this being a 4-1 or a 5-2 game.

Overs orĀ Unders: Record 3-3

Ottawa Senators against Dallas Stars over 6.5 -120

This game is a lock for me. Dallas has one of the best goal scorers in the entire league in Jason Robertson–who will more than likely be in the Rocket Richard race and Hart conversations by years end should he stay healthy–a resurgent Jamie Benn, Tyler Sequin, and the always dependable Joe Pavelski. Ottawa on the other side does have personnel who can put the puck in the net. Giroux, Stutzle, Tkachuk, Batherson, Debrincat all possess those offensive abilities.

It doesn’t hurt either that both of these teams have some pretty decent blue liners too. Dallas takes the edge on overall talent and will more than likely win the game, but this game should be high scoring based on those factors. 4-3, 5-4 is written all over this. With the way the league has been trending this year too, with teams trading lead changes, this will be a fun one on Thursday night.
