Filip Chytil 2nd line center? He deserves a shot with Panairn and Kravtsov.

Per Mollie Walker, the Rangers are going to make a few minor tweaks to their lineup, notably getting Kravtsov and Chytil on the second line with Artemiy Panarin.

This leaves a third line of Alexis Lafreniere-Vincent Trocheck-Kaapo Kakko, with the first and fourth lines remaining the same.

The Panarin-Filip Chytil-Vitali Kravtsov line has the potential to be extremely dangerous. They have a complementary skill sets, with Kravtsov and Chytil adept on the forecheck and along the boards, but also great on the rush and counter attack, which is Panarin’s “bread” and butter. This may be the line needed to help generate offense in multiple ways.

Lafreniere-Trocheck-Kakko has a Pouliot-Brassard-Zuccarello feel to it, with skill, three zone play, and an ability to take advantage of mismatches. The middle six has the best configuration we’ve seen since October and one fateful period in Detroit.

Optimism still exists here, at least for now. With the Rangers needing to put together a winning streak, this is a step in the right direction.
