Top stories from last week:
- The Rangers had a busy week, with 4 preseason games. They looked great in the preseason opener before losing a close one in Boston and looking bored against the Devils. They looked much better with a more NHL ready lineup in a win to close out the week.
- Live From The Blue Seats returned with a season preview for the Rangers. Be sure to subscribe on iTunes or Spotify.
- In this week’s Patreon post, we talked about the Rangers lineup taking shape, and what we might see on opening night.
- Kaapo Kakko got the first crack at 1RW with Chris Kreider and Mika Zibanejad, but it looks like Sammy Blais will get the extended look to start the season.
- Brennan Othmann and Jimmy Vesey made the bottom six battle interesting. Othmann was never a realistic option for this season, but there’s a strong case he should have had a longer look.
- The Rangers made many cuts last week, trimming the roster to 29. Among the cuts were Othmann, Adam Sykora, Will Cuylle, Bobby Trivigno, and Matthew Robertson.
- The Rangers will look to make small tweaks to improve this year, including possibly relooking at the penalty kill.
