Your 2022 NY Rangers free agency summary of Day 1 was busy, with the Rangers making three signings and one trade. It was certainly a busy day, as the Blueshirts were connected to almost every big name out there, but chose a relatively low key approach to free agency.
NY Rangers free agency summary
- Vincent Trocheck: 7 years at $5.65 million
- Jaro Halak: 1 year at $1.55 million
- Louis Domingue: 2 years at $775,000 and objectively the funniest signing of the day
- Patrik Nemeth traded with a 2nd and a conditional future pick to Arizona for Ty Emberson
The Rangers appear to be finished with free agency, although Chris Drury said they may add another depth center. Barring a trade, it looks like Tyler Motte is on the outside looking in, which is unfortunate, but also likely the right move given his contract projections.
