In addition to Jessica Campbell making history today as the first female coach in the AHL, another former Rangers staffer is making history. Mike Grier has been named GM of the San Jose Sharks, becoming the first black GM in NHL history.

Grier was hired by the Rangers last summer after Brian Leetch departed. Grier’s one year was spent in Hockey Operations as an advisor. And now he makes history. He’s got a tough job ahead of him, as San Jose is a mess right now.
