Vitali Kravtsovs role with the Rangers

Vitali Kravtsov returning to the NHL is now the primary option for the Rangers prospect. Kravtsov turned down Traktor’s contract offer, indicating he will be back in North America next season.

It’s been rumored that Chris Drury has worked on the relationship with Kravtsov this season, and that keeping him in New York is their primary objective. He’d be a good fit next season at RW, assuming the Rangers choose one of Andrew Copp and Ryan Strome. There would be an opening in the top six, and he’s certainly played like a top six forward in the KHL. Plus getting a cheap top six talent is great for the cap situation.

The human factor of Kravtsov returning to the NHL next season is still real. Has that relationship been truly mended? Is Kravtsov’s value better for the Rangers on the ice or in a trade? The kid is very skilled, and I’d love to see what he can do if paired with Artemiy Panarin. But we shall see.

This is a step in the right direction for all involved.
