Why don’t we let Gerard Gallant recap this himself:

Isles 1, Rangers 0

Turnovers at the blue line are killer, and this one wound up in the back of the net. Braden Schneider and Alexis Lafreniere failed to get the puck out, and then it was a numbers game with the quick transition and tap-in from Casey Cizikas.

Isles 2, Rangers 0

Bad turnover at the blue line. Bad back check. This was sloppy.

Isles 3, Rangers 0

Schneider with his second turnover that leads to a goal on this one. Couldn’t keep the blue line, then the Isles turned it. I am unsure what Patrik Nemeth was defending here.

Shot Heatmap

The Rangers got the majority of the attempts, both quality and quantity, but the Isles had a much higher percentage of quality chances relative to their shots. The Rangers also committed way too many turnovers.

Game Flow

Despite the score, the Rangers controlled most of this game, and that’s a good thing. Process leads to results, so if the Rangers stop turning the puck over at the blue line, they will be fine. And sometimes games like this will happen. Short memories, and move on.
