The Rangers have traded defenseman Anthony Bitetto to the San Jose Sharks, as announced on ESPN by Kevin Weekes.
Bitetto was probably the most loved AHL Tweener in Rangers history, and for good reason. He played hard, did his job, and was a local guy.
The Rangers get AHL forward Nick Merkley in return. He’s a former first rounder that hasn’t panned out, but is only 24 years old. He could be a decent fill-in option in a pinch. For now, he goes to Hartford.
